At educated fitness, we believe that exercise is medicine. We combine evidence-based physical therapy principles with strength and conditioning expertise to create programs that help you stay free from pain, prevent disease, and achieve ANY fitness goal you set for yourself.

About Your Trainers

Tycen Flygare

PT, DPT, MPH, CSCS 

I have been working as a physical therapist since 2020 and as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist since 2019.

During that time, I have learned more and more what a difference exercise can make in a person's life. It has become my goal to help everyone realize exercise is about so much more than just getting a beach body. Exercise enables you to live your most optimal life for as long as you possibly can.

I grew up in Utah, graduated with a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Utah State University and then went to physical therapy school at the University of Oklahoma.

I love all sports and all things outdoors. I played football, lacrosse, soccer, and ran track in high school and I ran cross country in college. Now I enjoy trail running, I recently qualified for the National Triathlon Championships, spartan races, wakeboarding, snowboarding, and finding any pick up sports I can.

I recently completed my Master of Public Health to further my mission of helping people understand that exercise is medicine.

The Founder's Story

EMPOWERING YOU TO TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTH

I created educated fitness from my own experience with exercise. I grew up near Salt Lake City, Utah, with a deep love for sports—but despite always being active, I never felt like I truly understood exercise (how to put on muscle, get faster, lose weight, etc.)

I just did what my coaches told me and hoped for the best.

Whenever my strength stalled or progress slowed, I assumed it was just my genetics—accepting that there were just certain things I was not meant to achieve—I never considered there might just be a better way to train.

It wasn't until college, when I majored in exercise science, that I first saw the difference between following what someone told me versus learning the principles behind exercise. 

As I followed the principles I learned, I was shocked at how simple it was to achieve fitness goals I never thought possible!

The more I learned, the more I found that ANY fitness goal was possible—I just had to put in the time, align with truth, and trust the process.

Working as a physical therapist has only deepened this belief. In this capacity I have seen firsthand how powerful exercise can be—not just for performance, but for preventing pain, reducing injury, and improving quality of life.

With the right program and guidance, many of the problems people face can be prevented before they ever begin!

These experiences are what drive educated fitness today.

I want you to realize that ANY GOAL you set for yourself CAN BE ACHIEVED. It just takes time, effort, a little bit of patience, and acting on correct principles.

I also want you to see that your habit of exercise can make or break the way you will live the last 20 years of your life. 

If you choose to make it a habit, you will find that no matter how old you are, some of your most athletic years are still ahead of you. 

We're here to teach you the principles that will get you there while also providing you with a killer training program to achieve your fitness goals today!
